Religious
Education on Sunday is fast coming to a close. We will be
starting a new and exciting way to help our children learn about
our faith. The Summer Religious Education will begin June 2 and
conclude with a picnic with the catechist, the children and
their families.
I know this
program is new, and there may be some small bugs the first year.
But from the research the advisory committee did, we discovered
that the children can retain the factual material better when
they have it in a concentrate format. We also know that you,
the parents, will be sharing our faith each day as you talk
about the problems they face in our changing world. (Lying,
stealing, not respect each other, the tough questions of death
and dying, and all the other various ways we meet Christ in
their lives)
All the
children at St. Joseph who will be going into first grade
through eighth will be invited to take part in this summer
program. If you had problems with vacations occurring during
these two week, we are having a meeting on May 18 at 10:30 am
for you to pick up your children Faith First Books so you
can help your child stay up with the other children in their
class. If you chose to home school your child/children we have
a meeting to distribute books and set up monthly meeting dates.
Also
if your child who is a second grader and will be receiving the
sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, will
have classes in November and March. If your child will be
celebrating Confirmation in the Spring, they will have classes
in January and February. Your child must either have
attended the summer program or been home schooled and have
attended the monthly meeting to be part of the sacrament
preparation classes.
