Home Communion Ministers
Another Eucharistic ministry is that of carrying Holy
Communion to the sick and home-bound members of the parish
family. You may be the only visitor the home-bound person sees
in a week; this is truly a work of God’s mercy and love. If you
or someone you know is in need of this service, please call the

making the preparations for a liturgical celebration. If you are

Liturgical Assistants
Liturgical assistants have a special role in our
community worship to assist and enhance our praise. Women, men,
boys and girls are needed to assist at Masses, funerals,
weddings, and other special occasions. If you are interested in
this ministry, please call the parish office to schedule
training.
Ushers
Both men and women are invited to join this ministry.
The welcome we extend to those coming to services reflects the
spirit of the parish, which should be as warm and cordial as
Christ’s own. If you are interested in this ministry, please
call the parish office to schedule training.
Sacristans
The sacristan is privileged to prepare the altar for the
Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as well as to keep the sanctuary
light burning, to make sure the vestments are clean and in good
repair, and to see that the altar linens are clean and
available. If you are interested in this ministry, please call
the parish office to schedule training.
Bereavement Ministries
A trained group of ministers meet with members of the
family of the deceased to plan the funeral liturgy. They also
assist the priest in the Rite of Vigil (attend the funeral home
visitation) and the funeral mass. They meet quarterly to discuss
new procedures. If you are interested in this ministry, please
call the parish office.
Prayer Ministries
Many in the parish family are no longer able to
participate in ministries that require physical effort. We
suggest that these people join our ministry of prayer which
involves saying daily prayers—your choice—for the needs of St.
Joseph parish and the entire church. If you ore someone you know
is in need of prayers, please contact the parish office.
